Midnight blue

Mixed media perfection!
We love Gayle's sensational style and taste for colour.
Check out this little beauty and feel inspired!

Hello lovely Mixed Media Place friends.
I have a little project for you today; a tiny canvas that just measures 5inches x 5inches. I don’t usually like to work this small, I am not good at making cards and this is not much bigger than a card. Anyway, it’s amazing how much you can fit into a tiny space. I have tried to channel Finnabair’s style and layered lots of her Mechanicals and beads. I’ve used Silks and Mica Powder to colour this feminine little canvas.

The little canvas had been used for something else, so I removed the previous papers except for the tissue around the edge. I knew I was going to coat everything with art basics  Black Gesso anyway. Apart from recycling the canvas frame I also had a lot of resin frames that needed to be used. Also added some lace for extra texture.

I added some texture down the sides of the canvas with art basics Modeling Paste, through a stencil.

Next I coated everything in art basics Black Gesso, including the 4 little resin frames and then arranged and stuck down all the metal embellishments with art basics 3D matte gel. Added art ingredients Glass Beads and Micro Beads, pearls and flowers. Then everything was given a coat of black gesso.

Once the black gesso was dry, everything was painted with a coat of Silks Acrylic Glaze in “Boysenberry”. When that was dry i went over the top with some Purple art ingredients Mica Powder mixed with soft matte gel. The final coat was some Inka Gold in Silver applied with a dry brush.

The pearls were painted with Silks Acrylic Glaze in Vavoom Red ( to match the lipstick )

Lots of textures with lace, beads and mechanicals.
