Art Exercises

How about some creative exercises?
Today we have some really great ideas by Agnieszka of how to practise your art muscle! ;)

Hi, everone,
today I'd like to show you some of my new art journal spreads.
I've decided to work with colors and composition as one can never have enough exercise, right? :)

I started with priming pages in an old book with gesso. I applied gesso with Catalyst Wedge No6 which is a very useful palette knife. Catalyst tools are made of flexible silicone and perfectly fit in a hand. They are also great to use with acrylic paints.
Next, I glued different sorts of materials on my pages - cardboard, scrapbooking papers, paper tape, etc. I decided to arrange them in simple geometrical shapes which is a very easy composition exercise.

Then, I applied colors. You can obviously use paintbrushes or palette knives but also your own fingers. The more tools you'll use, the more interesting the effect.
Acrylic paints are just perfect - they dry quickly and if you're not satisfied with the result, you can always paint a new layer on top of it.

You can use gel medium to mix with acrylic paints to achieve a transluscent effect so that the paper underneath remains visible.

I often do such creative exercises and I strongly recommend them for you - they give a lot of joy and really improve your eye and hand.

Tusia's Acrylic Journey / Akrylowa Podróż Tusi

This time I would like to show you a project with acrylic paints. I worked with Gelli Plate and gorgeous Acrylic Paints from Claudine Hellmuth to create a cover for my art journal.
The first layer was made using Landscape Green. Then Classic Teal. The rays were created with Modern Red and a stencil.

Tym razem chciałabym Wam pokazać mój projekt z farbami akrylowymi. Pracowałam z Gelli Plate i cudnymi farbami akrylowymi Claudine Hellmuth, by stworzyć okładkę mojego art journala. Pierwszą warstwą był kolor Landscape Green. Drugą Classic Teal. Promienie stworzyłam z pomocą koloru Modern Red i maski.

I embellished the front cover with some metal and chipboard elements. Using Martha Stewart Crafter's Clay and a mold I created a green rose which I colored with Glimmer Glaze.

Przód ozdobiłam metalowymi i tekturowymi elementami. Z masy Marthy Stewart zrobiłam różę używając specjalnej foremki i pokolorowałam ją Glimmer Glaze.

On the back I stamped with black StazOn and VLVStamps. You can also see some strokes from Catalyst Blade amazing tool.
Tylną okładkę ostemplowałam czarnym StazOnem i stemplami VivaLasVegas. Możecie dostrzec także pociągnięcia wykonane Catalyst Blade - cudnym narzędziem.

But wait... That's not all. :)
I have a video for you where you will be able to see the technique I used for creating both covers. Hope you will enjoy it!

Ale to jeszcze nie wszystko... :)

I hope I inspired you a little bit to discover some new areas in scrapbooking :)
Have a wonderful day,
Mam nadzieję, że zainspirowałam Was troszkę do odkrycia nowych obszarów w scrapbookingu :)
Cudnego dnia,
