Ocean Blue - By Georgie C

Hi folks

I’m here sharing with you today a mixed media layout I have created using 7 Dots papers.

I used Brain Freeze paper from the Cotton Candy range for the background piece. Then applied various mini Prima stamps with blue,black and grey Archival ink to the background.

Using the bubbles stencil from Finnabair I lightly sprayed Glistening Waves Color Bloom spray, holding from a distance to lightly build up bubble definition. Then, turning the stencil over I used the remaining ink that landed on the stencil and pressed into the paper to create another cool pattern.

For the next stencil, I used 7 Dots Stars Stencil, using Light Paste and adding WOW black glittering embossing powder over the top. Heat dried so the powder melted on top of the paste

Then I mixed up Finnabair’s Modeling Paste with Deep Waters Archival Ink, and whilst still wet I added Micro Beads and Mini Art Stones for extra sea-worthy texture

Once my stencilling was done, I used Destination Unknown 7 Dots papers in 6 x 6 to build the background for my photo to sit on, adding in Scrapiniec pieces, more Deep Waters Art Alchemy paint, glass glitter and mini art stones. I also added some Mechanical pieces and enamel dots for extra interest to the page.

Hello dear Mixed Media friends!!!What a great honor to join this awesome and super talented team for the next year. I have to admit it was a great surprise to me - to be picked up among all those applications. Thank you Tusia, Finnabair, Andrzej, Marta!!! 

First post today for me here (this is going to be a school ....called...Mixed Media Place...) and i will present my twin tags.I call them twin because twins are a cell, divided in two afterwards.When i took my tag, it was glued with another one side by side, so i decided that i would stamp them in the middle and separate them after.

First i distressed my tags with 3 colors, with my distress tool and then splashed water drops over it. Then i stamped and embossed that fantastic and favourite Finnabair fairy stamp.

Next I stamped with black Stazon the letter and rhombus Finnabair stamps. I glued butterfly wings from the stamped on a piece of decoupage paper with soft Medium I have added some gold embossing powder, some metallic Tim Holz embellishments, black wire and metallic thread.

Final touch - Prima and Lindy's Stamp Gang sprayed gauze. That's it... My steampunk distressed tags. What do you think??? Thank you for stopping by and spending your time watching my work. Hope i gave you some inspiration.. Kisses.. Eirini

Turisas

You may or may not know that I’m a metal head so to say. While I can listen to many music genres, I really prefer heavy metal above all of those. And one of the great loves I have amongst the genre is Turisas, a Finnish ‘viking metal’ band though they themselves prefer not to be called that.

About a year ago I shared a canvas called “Heart of Turisas” here in Mixed Media Place and now it’s time for another Turisas themed creation. This time I was inspired by the new gig set up the band has – a giant banner with the band members stylized in icon-like way. I’ve been looking the banner design some time now and decided to make my own take using that and the singer of the band as my inspiration.

I started by sketching the face lightly and then added the colors in using acrylics and black gesso. I painted most of the cape red and the face with different flesh tones and the hair with brown and then treated the whole background black with gesso.

 

Next I started adding the bibs and bobs to the canvas. I tried to keep it manly and thus not adding any flowers and also tried to add music related things in the mix. There’s a pick, a piece of a speaker, some guitar strings and a headphone in there. I added the pieces to the canvas using 3D Gloss Gel. After letting the medium dry, I then painted everything first black and then started bringing the colors again in. This time I used acrylics mixed with Mica powder, mists and lastly PanPastels. The face of the character is drawn using PITT pens and a pencil.

My great intention is to give this to the band if they want it, but let see how it goes. Until now the warlord has been staring me from a shelf above the TV. Maybe it’s good to have him there watching over us, guarding like an iconic being should?
