Hello mixed media friends!

Here in Greece August is the third and last month of Summer. That means that my vacation on beach house will end in a few days and I'm getting in a melancholy mood. But, still the sun is shinning and the sea is amazing for swimming. So, today I'm sharing a canvas about all these Summer things and emotions: a little bit of sea, memories and some paper boats I made by myself like those we used to make when we were children.

I glued on the canvas a paper from 7 Dots Soulmates collection and painted the rest of the canvas with white gesso. Then I glued the photo, the embellishments and the paper boats and stamped with several stamps here and there. I also wrote a small text I found on internet about 'what is a nostalgia'. After that, I used some blue and light brown colors to match the sea and the sand of the photo. The Lindy's Stamp Gang turquoise is the perfect color to represent the sea. I also used my favorite color ever Blue Grass from Primary Elements here in some spots to highlight them and as well gold and mediterranean silks. My final step always is to make some splashes with white gesso.

Sardines? Oh yes, please!

A fantastic idea how to alter a used and unwanted food can.

I like using materials which were originally designed for something else. I like altering those things, giving them second life and making them very special, even if I thought to throw them out at first.

I created a frame. Pardon... first, we ate the sardines from this metal can. :)

To begin, I cleaned the metal can keeping the opening as a hanger.

I covered my frame with white gesso and dried. I painted all with Silks.

I glued some paper bits inside the can to create my background. I used some pages from an old book and silk paper.

I added some Micro Beads which I coloured with Silks Bolivian Blue paint - I love this colour, it's my favourite colour which I use in most of my projects.

To create some stains I used sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang.

The little wings are a stamp from Prima Moth Wings set. I stamped two sets which I cut out to create a dimensional effect. I added a small metal embellishment in the middle. 

I coloured everything with Inka Gold rubs and added a sticker from Destination Unknown collection. Hook on the back and my picture frame is ready.

Cans are great for frames, you can add some photographs in the middle too and it will look great !

My Favorite

I've been thinking about doing a neutral page for some time now. 

I usually love to use colors, but that leaves me having a lot of neutral papers left. So I wanted to challenge myself and create something colorless.

Luckily, I happened to have a great photo with a very neutral color scheme and it inspired me to use a lot of black in the page.

The picture is of my favorite jacket which I bought last spring. Ever since I brought it home with me, it's been almost the only jacket I use so it deserved a page of its own.

I also happened to have the best embellishments for the page in my stash - the little jeans buttons from Prima. They fitted the theme perfectly!

I started again with gesso, but then used India ink, mists and Design Memory Craft pens to make the background.
