Healing - art journal

We have some very special treat for you today!
Anai yet again created some spectacular piece of art in which you can find most amazing background. All you need is some paints...

Hi everyone :)
Today I have another pages from my art journal for you. It's my favourite form of expression recently - perfect way to try new things, new techniques and different medias. This time I was working mostly with acrylic paints to create interesting background. I was working with few layers of paints - this way they could blend, overlap and give me interesting look I was hoping for :)

My idea for the background was pretty simple - trying to use different paints, different tools, check the effects and work as long as l need to :) I also played a little bit with a black india ink to create this weird shape on the right page :) It was very creative evening!

When I was happy with my background I covered it with a layer of clear gesso - it helped me to get even, matte surface - perfect for the rest of the process.

My next step (next day when I was sure that everything is dry) was drawing some flowers with a black markers and colouring them with watercolor paints (Ecoline and Dylusions Ink Sprays mostly). Clear gesso is a great background for watercolour paints - I highly recommend it!

You can see on the close-ups that the creative process was pretty complex :) I'm not even able to tell you all the things I've tried. And to be honest - I don't want to :) The most exciting thing about creativity is trying to find your own ways. It's such a great joy - working on your own, creating, not trying to duplicate someone else work. I really want you to try this - use your paints in different ways, use different brushes, tools, your fingers... You can mix colors, wipe it of partially with a baby-wipe or some kind of scraper. Imagination is your limit. Don't be affraid to make mistakes. If you're not happy with the result use a white or black paint to cover some parts and move on to another layers!

Don't be afraid my lovely creative friends! Be brave :) You can always start over :)

Love builds a happy home

Tiny box, big Art!
Janka always surprises us with her ability to transform ordinary into extraordinary.
Take a look at this simply adorable vintage piece.

Hello my darlings!
End of the year is a time summaries and New Year's resolutions. Do you also have any plans, promises and decisions to be made?
In my family our New Year's resolution was always to build a happy home and family every day. And so it is today. Here's my work on this subject:

In the beginning there was the metal box which I covered with two layers of gesso. As my background I added chipboard in the shape of a house. I added scraps from old newspaper.

I chose blue-and-brown color scheme with drops of yellow, I imposed on the surfaces diluted paint mists. I dried up. I highlighted some parts of the house using silks (Iridescent copper)

Separately I prepared an old photograph with an authentic couple. I cut out a couple and I added some metal wings. I added my cut out to the box by using 3D cubes on the ground.
At the top of the box I made a small hole and add a chain. To mask my chain I added a large thumbscrew.
On the top I added inscription HOME - wooden cubes with scribbles.
At the bottom you will find a hole with copper wire, which holds the word "together".

Autumnal Earth

Rich texture, recreating nature and beauty of Autumn.
Sensational art from Fran will leave you speechless.

Hello lovely readers,

I hope you are all well. Although it is now Winter I was inspired by the rich rust coloured falling leaves of Autumn. I wanted warm rich colours and thick, heavy, tactile textures evocative of autumnal earth.  One of the things I like about that particular time of year is the way leaves peacefully fall down onto the ground below, almost feather like.

I covered the canvas with Heavy Gesso which was extra thick as I'd left the lid off for a few days (bad crafting trait!) so it was extra lumpy which makes for great ultra texture.

Once the gesso was dry I painted over it with Copper Crackle Paste then added glass glitter in areas to replicate grit in the earth. I then blended paints and mica powders around the canvas adding warmth with Prima pink chalk paint.

To soften the composition I added mica flakes and scrunched up teared up book pages which I adhered to the canvas with 3D Gel so the paper kept it's dimension.

For the leaf, I die cut a piece of sheet copper then I hammered it for create indents then I've covered it with alchohol ink and black Ecoline ink to highlight and create veins on the leaf. Coiled copper wire was also used to create 3D leaf veins.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a warm, creative December!

Fran
