ATC triptych

Tiny masterpieces and lots of fun.
As always France is coming back in style with inspirational piece that you will all love.

Thinking that there is no such thing as too much texture, I just followed the flow on how many mixed media products I wanted to layer on top of each other. This led to an atc triptych... which was a lot of fun to make!

The base is done to obtain a bubble texture: a layer of gesso, leave to dry. Then a generous layer of 3D gel and without leaving it to dry, another layer of watered down heavy gesso. Dry with a heat gun and this will create bubbles by heating the air trapped in between the layers.

The second layer (or forth if you count them all!) is touches of white crackle texture paste, applied here and there with a palet knife. For the third layer I dropped micro beads in the still wet crackle paste and left everything to dry.

The forth layer is a thin layer of watered down heavy gesso to unify everything. Once dry, I diluted a little bit of Snapdragon and Wine and Roses Primary Elements with water and a pinch of Clear Glaze. I applied it with a thin paintbrush and sprayed some more water over it to blend it.

I added some stamping, some sewing and some Black soot distress ink on the edges. Only thing left to do was to add a focal element et... voilà!

Your turn now, go, go, go and go crazy on texture!

Longing, dreaming, waiting

Amazing journal spread that is taking you back to your most wonderful memories.
Stay to hear the story behind another sensational creation.
France inspires again!

I made the background of this spread while teaching art journaling classes in Italy. It was a great feeling to create freely (without a determined project!) together with a group of wonderfully inspired and inspiring ladies!

The background is done with ColourArte Emperors Gold Silks. I added 3D Matte Gel over a stencil to create a resist, then added more Silks and Silks mixed with Soft Gloss Gel.

The focal element is a mixture of rusted Tengucho paper, plaster and Cambric colorized with Autumn Leaf Silks.
The heart is home made and measures about 2.5 mm!

It's a wonderful memory to look back at and that's what I love about my art journal: it takes me back to wonderful moments in life.

Love letter

Another fantastic make from our DT member France. Mix of vintage and teal looks so perfect.
Would you agree ? See it for yourself!

Isn't it bliss when you can combine vibrant colors with a vintage look? That is one of my to go places when looking for creative meditation!

I started by applying Art Basics Heavy White Gesso over the Bubbles stencil on a tag and left it to dry.
Mixing up some Primary Elements with Clear Acrylic Glaze, I created a color pallet to add in a blended way on my tag.

Simply applying the mixtures with a paint brush, the gesso slightly resists the glaze, which gives this grungy effect to the colors.
I added some Copper Crackle Paste over the Halftone stencil, left it to dry, added some Autumn Leaf splatters and some sewing as well.

Now that my focal image was in place, I could go wild with embellishments: some rusted metal and a lot of micro beads. To make it all work with the colors underneath, I also added a light touch of glitter.

I hope it will inspire you to get creative! Now go, go and get your stash out!

Lost and Found

Fabulous colours and amazing textures...
We are sure you will enjoy seeing another journal spread from out talented France.
And guess what? There is a video tutorial waiting for you too!

Sometimes it's good to have a good worked out plan before you start arting, sometimes just a base of an idea is enough to soar...
For this art journaling spread, all I had in mind was layers and cracks, and some more layers and some more cracks.

To get there, I combined Finnabair's White Crackle, with Clear Crackle, with heavy black and white Gesso, with ColourArte Silks and Primary Elements.
Do I need to say I had fun??

Don't have a plan or even a base of an idea? Go make some art anyway, you WILL soar!
