My name is Tracy Scott and when not at the day job as a Finance Officer in East London I love nothing more that to relax with a glass of the red stuff and create wonderful brightly coloured art !!! A self confessed colour-holic, I love to experiment with new mediums and colour combos, the brighter the better... no Browns and beiges for this girl I'm afraid !!! I've been fortunate enough to be able to start teaching mixed media and art journalling in the last 18 months in my spare time and love every single minute of it, it's incredibly satisfying to inspire others to create and reach for their creative dreams.

I was so excited receive my order from Mixed Media Place, my new Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints, Prima Watercolours, stamps and various other goodies had arrived and I just couldn't wait to get started !!

I knew I wanted to create a mixed media piece full of colour and texture and just knew that it had to have some of Finnabairs fabulous butterfly stamps.  9x11 canvas board was the perfect substrate. 

For this piece I used a mix of the stunning Prima Watercolours and Art Alchemy Paints for my background over a base of texture created with modelling paste through my favourite bubble stencil and small pieces of torn resist canvas. 

Various sized butterflies were stamped onto 300 gram card with black archival ink and I coloured with a mix of the Art Alchemy paints and also added some shading with my Prima Watersoluble Oil Pastels, the pastels are super creamy and the rich colours compliment the paints perfectly. 

Prima's fabulous Art Stones and Mini Art Stones as well as Gold Glass Glitter were used around the canvas board to add some more texture and interest and of course I had to add some fine glitter to my butterflies and around the canvas. 

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this project. Sometimes using new products and mediums can be hard work but the Prima paints were amazing, the colours stunning and the metallic finish give a truly luxurious finish. 

Mmmmm now what to create next !!!!!!

I have been always connected to nature. It gives mi energy, when I am tired. It answers my questions and this connection has been always very important to me.

Sometimes I like to use an object, I gather during walking. This time it is bark of a tree.

Have you ever wonder what's the most important thing in art for you?
For me it's emotion.
I want to feel - whether I'm exploring art or creating it.
Sometimes I'm creating art because I feel too much. And that's exactly the case in todays project. So excuse me for not saying too much about it. I'd like you to feel it more than think about how it's done or what does it mean...

The basic concept was pretty simple. I've created the background using gesso, lace, texture paste, crackle paint and modeling paste with a stencil. When it was dry I started adding color (mostly with Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays).

I have a special box in my creative space. It's full of strange old metal elements I bought online many years ago. Some would say it's garbage ;) I would say it's a box of treasures :)
I've made a simple composition with these elements. Simple and full of meaning at the same time.
I wasn't even sure which words to use. But while I was creating it suddenly I've though about "open heart surgery".
"Open-hearted" is obviously a word-play.

I didn't want it to be dark or depressing. I hope you don't take it this way...
I was just thinking about all this hard situations in life, when you struggle with your own emotions. When you have to cut, sew, add some wires and screws - just to be able to move forward still in one piece.
It can be messy sometimes. But I like messy. It gives me power and hope that everything can be fixed.

Hello, it's  Anai here with another approach to hand-drawing and colouring.
I have to tell you - I haven't done it for few weeks and I actually really missed it. It takes time obviously. It takes patience. I'm not trying to be perfect but I am trying to be focused and careful.
It's a little bit crazy time right now in my life and my work - I'm really busy and don't have much time for myself. It can be stressful...
That's exactly why I decided to spend hours and hours on making this piece. I forced myself to sit and draw and then I realized that all the stress is gone. I have found my ZEN :) And then colouring was just fun and pleasure :)

My working process is changing a little bit (I'm still trying to find my perfect routine for my illustrations), but still I'm using the same products - Faber Castell markers for drawing and shadowing, Clear Gesso from Prima which protects the drawing, makes it easier for shadowing, but still allows me to preserve the texture of the paper, and then last but not least - Dylusions Ink Sprays, Lindy's Stamp Gang mists and Silks paints for colouring.

I'm not gonna lie:) It takes hours. Hours of sitting  and focusing on a little piece of paper. Drawing, adding details, adding colour with a crazy small brushes :) But that's exactly the point. For me - it's one of the best ways to relax and forget about the whole world.  

You don't have to do the whole piece at once. You can take your time and make the small steps. But it's definetly worth to try! And if you don't feel confident with drawing - there are many patterns to download from the net. Let yourself to feel like a child - colouring books for adults are a big trend right now :)
