Altered antique box by Ola Khomenok

Hello dears!

Ola here. Today I would like to share with you this cute Antique style jewelry box. Actually it was a simple wooden box that I've altered using Patina Effect Pastes and Art Alchemy waxes. I'm really in love with these pastes. There are so many different effects you can get with them.

This time I've tried to get a Shabby Chic style look and I believe I've succeed.

If you are interested how to make it, I have a video tutorial for you. Hope you'll like it.

The keeper of the earth by Juliya

Hello dears! It's Juliya here. I would like to share with you my fairy layout.
I really like to do such work. There was an idea to make "the keeper of the earth". The photo was found on pinterest, to her came a sheet from the collection of Fortune Teller. And the fairy tale began ...
My stories always begin with the Gesso Clear. I put it only where I'm going to play with the texture and sprays. Then there is a layer with a stencil and paste. I select them depending on the photos and ideas. Here I have a Modeling Paste and two stencils. Light and fine painted on the right side to maintain airiness. Heavy and large on the right, he is the basis.

Dark colors, rusty elements, plant elements ... all this supports my idea and photography.

Eat It!

Art is not only about pretty and gentle.
It's a powerful way to express everything that bothers us, that makes us angry.
It's a perfect way to send a message to the world...

This piece is an expression of my anger and disagreement.

My protest against the image of a woman that we are being fed with every day.

Against women being treated like an object that can be:

Eaten. Chewed. Swallowed.

To create this piece I used an old spoon that I bought at a flea market, a Barbie doll head and a light bulb base.

All the metal parts were covered with gesso and then painted with Vintaj Patina paints and alcohol inks applied with a sponge.
The handle of the spoon was sprayed with a pink Glimmer Mist.

I rubbed some gel medium in the doll's hair and arranged the "hairstyle". When it dried, I painted it with using acrylic paints and a blue Glimmer Mist applied with a paintbrush.
I glued the head to the spoon with Glossy Accents and also used this product to create the transparent drop on the handle.

This post is my goodbye with Mixed Media Place blog...
I'm grateful for the possibility to show my artworks here and for the opportunity to cooperate with my wonderful creative friends from the Design Team.
Thank you to all of you - our readers - for all your kind words and comments about my creations!

Good Energy

Do you have any inspirational objects on your desks?
The dimensional frames are just perfect to showcase some small objects to provide you with inspiration and good vibes. :)
In our store we have just the right ones for you:
Ingvild's Junkyard, Finnabair's Clock or Bird House? Which one would you go for?

Hello my lovely friends :)
Today I would like to show you my project for Mixed Media Place store owned by Finnabair and her husband.

As you can see I have used gorgeous Prima Picture Frame and filled it with my favourite stuff and colors. I wanted to keep it close to my desk and create some good energy around.

This cute Prima resin angel was covered with gorgeous Luminarte Silks - Iridescent Gold. You can see on the photo how beautifully it shimmers.

The background for the whole composition is made from Finnabair Canvas Resist Lace Border misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists.

You can see that some of the elements have a subtle, golden shimmer that is given by Silk Iridescent Gold.

The element you can see below, was created using Finnabair's Mechanicals - Pendant Caps, Roses and Mini Brads. I used gesso, Silk Iridescent Gold, Inka Gold Metallic Rub, Mica flakes and Ranger Vintaj Patina.

Below you can see Prima metal Branch with letters - I altered it using gesso, Vintaj Patina from Ranger and Silk form Luminarte. Now it matches perfectly the whole frame. :)

Have a great day!
