Altered water canister by Louise Crosbie

Today I’m sharing this altered water canister. There’s a process video link further down the page.

One of my steampunk friends (Gabbi ☺️) gave me this canister to do with as I will and I had an urge to go with a chipped enamel/ chipped paint sort of look.

I’ve used mostly black gesso and impasto paint to get the look and I’ve used a piece of one of the lovely Finnabair studio tissue paper sets.

Obviously, I couldn’t leave it with the soft green chipped paint look. I am always drawn to the red rust effect paste. I’m unable to resist lol.

In keeping with my theme last month of doing a project a beginner could manage, I think this is quite an easy look to achieve for people who are relatively new to mixed media. Maybe a step up from the steampunk blaster though. But I’m sure the video will assist if you’re looking to learn some easy techniques that don’t require too many new products.

I hope it, at least, inspires you to try some parts of the process for yourselves.
