Old tin by Lori Woods

Hello creative friends! I was really excited to start using the latest mica powders from Finnabair and decided I would create a steampunk project with them. I found an old tin in a junk shop that was perfect for the work and bonus, I could then store my mica powders in it afterwards!

I started by placing some castings from the Rusty Pipeline and Mechanica moulds onto the tin and then added in various mechanicals including washers and gears. I created areas of texture using white crackle paste and mini art stones.

Now for the mica powders! I used the Golden Hour collection and coloured the elements with gold colours mixed with Liquid Fluid Medium to create permanent colour. The dark brown was perfect for creating shadows and adding colour to the crackled areas. Rust paste and Jade impasto helped to create a rusty patina finish.

The new mica powders are such a versatile product and I can't wait to try them on my next project! And I have a video of the entire process for you here:
