Keeper of keys

Handy box, wonderful altering idea. Box for keys - a true masterpiece.
Who wouldn't like to hang Pascale's beauty on the wall ?

Hello Sweeties

Today I'm up on Mixed Media Place blog with a new "recycling" project. I had since forever a key box at home, you know the kind of object we use every day but stop notice, and at the same time I caught myself looking if I did not find a more "modern".

I started to cover the wood panel with 3 layers of heavy Gesso. I let dry between all the layers. Then I added a first design to the background with a stencil and Clear Gesso. I want the design to be there but subtle. And when dry I added a second design with another stencil and Modeling Paste.

Meanwhile the background was drying, I worked on the wings. I humidified the cardboard in order to separate the different layers. After I dried them, I covered them with a thin layer of Gesso.

Then I glued frame, chest and wings to the panel. I added some beads : some pearly that came from a old necklace, glass beads, micro beads... which I glued with 3D Matte Gel. When completely dry, I colored the background with different shades of yellow, orange, gold and brown.

I colored the wings with Mica Powders, then coverethemd  with clear Crackle Paste. I added again some Mica Powders as well as clear Crackle Paste until I was happy with the result. Unfortunately we don't really see the result on the photos.

It's only now that I added the dress made of a old doily, some old book pages, thread and linen. I used some clear Powertex to harden the doily and the linen. I added to the composition a little key and some flowers. I finished with a light touch of gold wax on the resin frame and the wood frame.

And here is my key box back in place with its guardian angel!
