Hello. :) It's the very last day of this year...
This year has been quite difficult for me. But it has also been full of happy and beautiful moments and that is the thing I want to remember the most. For sure - it has been a very very busy year.
So last week when I had a few days away from work, when I almost completed all the projects, there was this moment when I suddenly decided to create a spontaneous mixed-media layout and make a short movie from making it. ;)

Witajcie w ostatnim dniu tego roku :)
Muszę przyznać, że to nie był dla mnie rok najłatwiejszy... Ale składał się także z wielu szczęśliwych i pięknych chwil - i to właśnie przede wszystkim chcę zapamiętać. Jedno jest pewne - to był szalenie pracowity rok... W ostatnich tygodniach moje zmęczenie naprawdę sięgnęło zenitu.
Zatem, gdy w zeszłym tygodniu miałam tych kilka wolnych dni - z dala od pracy i już prawie po zamknięciu wszystkich bieżących projektów, w którymś momencie naszła mnie silna spontaniczna potrzeba zrobienia mixed-mediowego scrapa i nagrania przy okazji małego filmiku. :)

It's really not that complicated - just a 12x12 craft paper base, some gesso, some gelatos, some glimmer mists.

Mój scrap nie jest jakoś strasznie skomplikowany - ot, spontaniczna zabawa mediami - prosta kraftowa baza, trochę gesso, trochę kredek Gelatos, trochę Glimmer Mistów.

I really wanted to create something in cheerful colours and use a picture I've lately found in my drawer - it's from a trip to Ireland three years ago. I remember this special time very well. I remeber that day at the Aran Islands and that exciting feeling that I could do anything I wanted!

Chciałam przede wszystkim odrobiny radosnych kolorów do oprawy zdjęcia, które znalazłam ostatnio w szufladzie. Było zrobione 3 lata temu podczas wycieczki do Irlandii. Pamiętam dokładnie ten bardzo wyjątkowy czas. I pamiętam ten dzień na Wyspach Aran i to niesamowite uczucie, że mogę wszystko!

So I wish you all the best for this New Year and just remember to seek for this kind of feeling. Just stop for a moment and feel the freedom wherever you are...
I wish myself exactly the same thing. :)

Na ten nowy rok życzę Wam wszystkiego co najlepsze i żebyście szukali w życiu właśnie takich wrażeń. Nieważne gdzie jesteście - po prostu czasem zatrzymajcie się na chwilę i poczujcie wolność...
Sobie życzę dokładnie tego samego. :)

I had to speed it up a little - with a little magic of technology you get 2 hours in less than 10 minutes. ;) I hope you will enjoy the time we spend together. ;)

A poniżej znajdziecie mój mały filmik. nie jest to tutorial, ani film instruktażowy. Chciałam Wam po prostu odrobinę przybliżyć mój proces twórczy. Mało kto ma okazję go podglądać ;)

Oczywiście musiałam ten proces nieco przyspieszyć - dzięki technologii i odrobinie czarów udało mi się zmieścić dwie godziny w niecałych 10 minutach.

Mam nadzieję, że ten czas spędzicie ze mną z przyjemnością. :)

Hello and greetings from Finland!

I'm so delighted to share my first post here at Mixed Media Place! Although I'm a scrapbooking girl, I went with a canvas for this post. It's an idea that has been evolving in my head for some time now and the DT post gave my courage to try out my wings.

Ever since I made some miniature paintings on brooches this fall I have had a yearning to do a bigger piece with same style - a portrait of a woman using mixed media and collage. I'm not much of a drawer, but I wanted to try what I could come up with and just started creating. The project actually captured my attention so completely that I was almost late for my work!

You can see some step by step pictures from the collage I made. I simply started by drawing the portrait on the canvas with a pencil and then colored it pretty roughly with acrylic paints.

Then I started building up the layers that make her hair - first some leftover alphas and then all sorts of ephemera that I store in my "mixed media" drawer. After giving the hairdo a gesso wash, I started bringing the colors in.

I was planning to use my favorite color scheme - turquoise, blue and green, but when she was all white haired, it seemed to me she didn't want to wear blue but instead pink, so I used pink together with touches of yellow. I first used Talens watercolors, then added spritzes of mist to the mix and finally added a soft coloring on top with PanPastels. I also used some alcohol markers to draw in a few details.

I'm really happy that I tried to put my ideas into action after pondering about the creation for so long. And after my canvas was finished I started having all sorts of new ideas - maybe I just need to try them out, too!

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm hugely honoured to be a guest in your home on the first day of Christmas.
I hope you are enjoying this special time relaxing with your families.
Ususally, at this time of year in Poland it's snowy and wintery outside but this year we are completely snowless...
Missing this magical atmosphere I decided to create this mixed media winter tag.

Mam ogromny zaszczyt zagościć w Waszych domach w pierwszy dzień Świąt Bożego Narodzenia. Mam nadzieję, że spędzacie ten czas ciesząc się świętami i odpoczywając w rodzinnym gronie.

Zazwyczaj w Polsce, o tej porze krajobraz za oknami był prawdziwie zimowy. W tym roku aura jednak poskąpiła nam białego puchu.

Dziś, tęskniąc za śniegiem, chciałam Wam pokazać mixed-mediowy zimowy tag. 

 

 

First, I prepared a base for my spoon. Using gel medium I glued scraps of paper and plastic nets of different sizes on a piece of cardboard. When everything dried I painted the tag with acrylic paints.

I painted the spoon with alcohol inks.They are perfect for metal and other smooth surfaces - they create beautiful smudges, perfectly mix with each other and dry very quickly.

Next I put some Crackle Accents and added an acrylic dot.

 

Przygotowanie tagu zaczęłam od wykonania bazy pod łyżeczkę. Na kawałek tektury poprzyklejałam za pomocą gel medium skrawki papierów i plastikowych siatek o różnej wielkości oczek. Kiedy baza przeschła, pokryłam ją farbami akrylowymi.

Potem tuszami alkoholowymi pomalowałam łyżeczkę. Tusze alkoholowe doskonale nadają się do malowania po metalu i innych gładkich powierzchniach, pięknie rozpływają się po powierzchni, ładnie ze sobą mieszają i bardzo szybko wysychają. Następnie na miseczkę i trzonek łyżeczki nałożyłam Crackle Accents i przykleiłam akrylową kroplę.

I fixed my spoon to the background using gel medium. To finish off I added some gorgeous Primary Elements pigments here and there, added the paper flowers, a cardboard swirl painted with acrylic paints and sprayed the whole thing with Glimmer Mist.

I hope I managed to create some wintery atmosphere with my tag.

Gotową łyżeczkę za pomocą gel medium przymocowałam do bazy. I zaczęłam końcowe ozdabianie. Miejscami nałożyłam pięknie błyszczący pigment Primary Elements, przykleiłam papierowe kwiaty, prawdziwe gałązki i tekturowy zawijas pomalowany farbą akrylową. Całość spryskałam mgiełką.

Mam nadzieję, że wniosłam trochę zimowego klimatu moim tagiem.
