Mixed media hexagon by Kasia

Hello!

Today I’d like to share with you my first project for DT Mixed Media Place. I created hexagon in my favorite shades of brown, full of cogs and layers;) You can see the whole creation process in my video tutorial.

I covered the base of my project with a very thin layer of Finnabair White Gesso. The same with rest of hdf (hardboard) elements. I applied a bit of Modeling Paste using stencil. I also used metal embellishments that perfectly fit into the style of this project. Everything is glued with Heavy Body Gel. After drying, I colored my project with Impasto Paint – dark chocolate. I love to use paint with water and this time I’ve diluted the paint so that the color isn’t so intense. Impasto covers everything perfectly, so using only water you can create many shades of one color and at the same time make accents like watercolors.

Metal embellishments shine lightly, that’s why I applied wonderfully glossy Icing Paste to the elements from hdf, so that everything is consistent. The entire project was also covered with white gesso. On the edges I used black gesso and some splashes. At the end I used one of my favorite Prima stamps with very small text.

Have a nice day,
Kasia Salmanowicz
