Creative Gym - Exercise #15

Hi all you good creative fans!

This month’s Creative Gym Exercise is all about FREEDOM!

Our very talented Marianne is hosting this month challenge.

With all things happening around the world lately, it’s good to let some steam come out in an art journal.

What if everything could been solved like this? What if words, paint and art could rule this world? With no weapon, no wars, no terror, no blood etc?
I know it’s a dream, but sometimes it’s allowed to dream and hope. Never loose hope!!

I have written some of my thoughts around this theme on my journal and of course I have used some of the fabolous products from Mixed Media Place.

The background is made with gesso, gel medium, ecoline, stencils and stamps.  I believe that if you have those few products you can make whatever you want!

I love to use Black Gelato , it gets kind of 3dimensional and depth in the page.

Time for our amazing Pascale.

Hello Sweeties,

Today I'm up on Mixed Media Place with a new set of ATCs four the new Creative Gym challenge.

I applied a thick layer of gesso on the background. Before it was dried, I stamped it in order to leave a print.

While the background was drying, I stamped the heart, I painted it with Carmin Silks, then I covered it with clear Crackle Paste. I recycled a plastic packaging to make the wings, heat them to give them the form I wanted and added gold wax to the edges.

To color the background, I used Mica Powders and Primary Elements and I fixed them wit a fixatif.

I finished with gold Mica Flakes and Glass Glitters.

Check out project from our one and only Riikka.

Finland’s Independence Day is December 6th. I guess this affected my piece as when I thought about freedom, my ideas started immediately evolving around veterans. How they kept this small country independent in the wars and what they sacrificed in the making.

So I picked up this photo that reminded me of my own grandfather from the Ephemera pack. I also included the number 98 in my piece as 1917 was the year when Finland was born. I also thought the medal like embellishment went nicely to the piece as some of the veterans are highly decorated. The small texts running down the side of the page is actually lyrics to Finlandia, kind of second national anthem for Finland.

Next up is our wonderful Tusia.

I learn how to draw :) Still :) They say practice makes perfect :) This time I have used three sets of crayons - Prima Oil Pastels, Caran d'Ache and Inktense. They are all water soluble and Oil Pastels blends beautifully even when they are dry (I used my fingers) and they have wonderful, soft texture.
