Bend It Like Beckham :)

Agnieszka Anna is known and loved for her altered art.
Do you remember her magical spoon?
Today, she comes with another extraordinary altered creation...
[today's title for the post was borrowed from this great movie. :) ]

For a couple of years I've been asked to create a trophy for an amateur women's tournament in soccer.
I'm very lucky to be given total creative freedom when it comes to the shape and the whole look of this prize.
This year, I've decided that it will be a woman's head covered with bits of a football.

To create this special trophy I used a plastic head that is used on shop displays.
I glued bits of newspapers and primed them with gel medium mixed with white acrylic paint.

The most difficult part was to glue the patches from a football on such an uneven surface.
But thanks to extra heavy gel medium they hold very well.
When everything dried, I painted another layer of gel medium to prepare good priming for acrylic paints.

My next step was painting with metallic acrylic paints also mixed with gel medium to make them translucent and to leave the newspapers visible beneath.
To make the whole thing more shiny and glamorous, I added the final touch of some watered down Inka Gold metallic rub.

Mechanical Garden

Mechanicals are such a versatile product - we've seen them as jewelry, attached to altered books, embellishing layouts and cards and most creatively perhaps - all sorts of 3D projects.
Just take a look at this adorable frame that would make just a perfect gift for someone close to your heart... :)

Hello Sweeties,
Today I want to share with you a project that is somehow different from what I usually do since it's an altered frame.

I chose to preserve the original color of the frame as well as the one of the embellishments as they are a perfect match with my interior (old black & gold Chinese furniture).

I've used extra heavy gel medium to attached the embellishments.

Favorite Memory

Have you ever taken part in any round robin swaps? They're such fantastic opportunities to create some new art with people from all corners of the world!
Today, we have Tusia sharing her bit of such an adventure.

I take part in many robin round art journal swaps - today, I would like to show you my intro page in my own journal, which will be travelling across the USA.

The background was created using Finnabair (Prima) resist canvas sheet, colored with Glimmer Mists, finished with some stamping.

I mixed some 7 Dots Studio collections - Cold Country, Nature Walk and The Queen's Heart. All the layers were created with little foam squares.

I love adding small elements, such as brads, pearls and thread.

I can hardly wait to see my art journal back after a very long and fantastic journey!
