Just Breathe

From time to time, each one of us needs a reminder to slow down, breathe, take it easy...
Gayle had this amazing idea to create such reminders for herself - meaningful and so beautifully made... See for yourselves!

Hello! I don't know about you but the start of this year seems to be super busy and I've been feeling a little "frazzled". The problem is we're often too busy, self-absorbed and distracted to notice what is going on right in front of us.
I read a sign somewhere with an arrow pointing to a persons brain that read " Caution. Internal traffic." Sometimes we have to make a conscious effort to take some time out and just "be".

I've made some tags to remind me of this....to slow down and breathe.

I've also made an envelope to keep them in and will place it somewhere so that each day I will have a reminder to "slow down".

The techniques are pretty simple...

Take a manilla tag and cover it with patterned paper.
I've used Domestic Goddess 'Spice and Sugar' and Nature Walk 'Winged Vines'.

I've also used some Prima 'Paintables', printed images on watercolor paper, that I've painted with a combination of Silks, Ecoline watercolors and Distress Stains.

Over the top of these I added some tissue images, some embossed stamping and some texture paste through stencils.

I finished off with some distress ink around the edges and some metal embellishments. Then using either stamps or stick on letters, I've added my "take it easy" messages.

Come & Play! - A New Photo Challenge

Instagram is taking our hearts by storm!
That's why we'd like to have a little mixed media photo fun and invite you to join our new challenge. :)

The rules are pretty simple:
every month we'll announce some creative challenge theme and your job will be to take a photo of (at least) one of the products from Mixed Media Place shelves and post it on Instagram using a special hashtag (different every month).
That's it. Nothing more complicated. :)

Then we will choose one photo that is the most creative and inspiring and its author will receive a prize.

So what do have for you in April?

One of the most popular collections by 7 Dots Studio is called "Nature Walk".
Loving the Spring outside, we came up with...

... Nature inspired theme...

{Coral Reef paper from 9th Wave Collection; cobalt feather}

Just choose a product from Mixed Media Place (and it could really be anything, as long as it can be found on our shelves), take it outdoors and snap a photo.
Or you can bring Nature indoors and make some lovely arrangement on your own desk.
Be creative and have fun!
Posting your photo(s) use this hashtag: #mmpchallenge1
We'll announce the winner on May 4th.

What's to win in April?
Just a sweet little something... :)

♥ All you need is Love ♥

We can always count on Tusia to bring some great positive energy to the table.
And here she is again - spreading the Love. :)

My art journal page is about love. But not about love between a man and a woman but about universal love. Our world it not always a happy place but in the end, the only thing that matters, is love. It makes our lives lighter and more joyful. Even if the circumstances are not always simple...

I wanted to express my feelings and this is the reason why you will find in my art journal pink, red, but also some dark colors (which really I rarely use).

At the beginning I primed my art journal page with gesso - I was going to use lots of water and I didn't want it to ruin my other pages. So after priming, I created the background using red Izink. It blends wonderfully with water. This big red splash in the centre of my page was made using red Izink. But not only - the pink shade on the whole page was made using exactly the same Izink color. :)

Then I applied Opaline Izink - you can see on the photos below the beautifully pearly shine it created.

I mixed some Heavy Gel Medium with Luminarte pink pigment and applied it through a stencil to create heart pattern.

I also used Light Pink PanPastel (Magenta Tint 430.8) to create a big heart on the left. The final touch was adding journaling, doodling and some tags and elements from 7 Dots Studio (Illumination and The Queen's Heart collections).

I am in love in Izinks and soon there will be more projects with them. :)
Have a great day!
Tusia
