Creative Gym - Exercise #11

Have you noticed that lovely Finnabair is giving so much inspiration on a weekly basis in the form of tutorials called “Art Recipes”?
They have steps to create wonderful creations and really spur your imagination and inspiration!
So this month the challenge is to use one of these Recipes to get you going! You don’t have to do the same project or even use the Recipe step by step but let it inspire you and see what you come up with! Please also include the link to the Recipe you used.

This month challenge is host by Riikka. Check out her fantastic make!

Hi everyone,
I used the “Under Pressure” Art Recipe more as inspiration than followed it step by step. I tried to add details from the Recipe and also from the page in my creation.

Instead of the Luminarte pigments I used Ecoline watercolors in my minialbum but did the two tone stencilling to some of the pages. There’s also lines with watercolor pencils, layered papers and pencil doodles. I also added twine here and there inspired by the page.

The minialbum is done for my mother in law who has a birthday coming up. It’s always hard to think a present to a person who has all she needs, but as she loves her summerhouse and her grandchildren, I used photos I took this summer when we visited in the album.

I find minialbums really hard to present as it usually means a ton of pictures so this time I recorded a flip through video to go with a few photos!

Hello lovely Mixed Media Place friends. Oh what fun this Creative Gym Exercise was…..to take one of Finnabair’s fabulous Art Recipies and run with it. I pretty much followed her recipe exactly, with only a tiny “tweek”. The recipe I used came from April of this year…..”Out Of Ordinary” here is the link http://tworzysko.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/art-recipe-out-of-ordinary.html

Art Journal Page “Be You”

I started with 2 old book pages. Added washi tape, cotton tape and “lace” tape. Then gave it all a coat of art basics White Gesso.

Next, just like Finn’s recipe I used art basics Moldeling Paste through the Harlequin Stencil, let it dry then used a second stencil, “Alpha” over the top.

Finn added lace to the bottom of her page, I have added washi tape and some stamping using Finnabair Cling Stamps “Net and Wire” and instead of spraying with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Sprays ( which I sadly do not own ) I have used Distress Spray Stains.

I cut out my photo and stuck it down using art basics 3D matte Gel and then high lighted it with art basics White Gesso. Next I added a bit more depth of colour using Gelatos. Applying it and then rubbing it into the textures with my finger.

Finnabairs recipes are wonderful to follow. I would really encourage you to have a go !

Another inspiration is coming from Janka

In my art journal I put Indians wisdom.
Since a very long time I'm interested in not only designs, teepees and dressing of Indians, but most importantly I am intereste in all their life (especially the Sioux) Indian villages, hierarchy, migration, hunting, jousting, etc. war path.
Their life and wisdom are always an inspiration for me.

I used this Art Recipe from Finnabair:  https://www.pinterest.com/pin/168603579776347440/

Some mixed media heaven from Pascale

It was very difficult to choose only one Finnabair's recipe as they are all so tempting. So after a long moment of reflection I settle on the "Flame of Love" recipe  (http://tworzysko.blogspot.fr/2015/03/art-recipe-flames-of-love.html). Instead of using a old book as a support, I choose an embroidery hoop that I brought some time ago, and I just added a few flowers ;)
