Girly Spring arrived in Mixed Media Place. :)
Will you play with us?
I usually try to show you something more paper-based and
meaningful. This time I wanted to make something small, cute, girly and
more from the home decor area. :)
A little mixed-media box.
I have several small paper boxes waiting forever to be decorated. And the time has come and I just felt the urge to work with one of them.
The box is actually very small - it has about 9 cm diameter, so it probably looks bigger on these photos than it really is. :)
I started by covering it with gesso. I used a sponge so the surface is uneven and has a bit of texture. Then I started playing with Gelatos. I mixed "Snow Cone" and "Raspberry" and diluted them with water. Gelatos work great as watercolors!
Then to add more depth to it, I used "Black Licorice" and "Coconut" just on the edges and smudged it with my fingers.
Isn't the effect just stunning?!
I decorated the lid with some small embellishments, but I tried to keep it girly and delicate.
Some white flowers covered with Glimmer Mists, a beautiful flair from the "Nature Walk" collection, acrylic pebbles with a little of Perfect Pearls powder underneath...
As you may already know. I'm a glitter person. ;) So I couldn't stop myself from using a little bit of glitter and small silver sequins. ;)
I really like the final look and I think it can be a great and very unique way to pack some gift for a friend or just to keep some little treasures on the shelf. Using media is always a great joy for me and the effect is always one of a kind.
I hope you'll like it. :)
