'Contemplation' - Art Journal Page By Georgie Connelly

Hi folks,

I’ve been feeling lately that my art journal has been a little neglected, so what a perfect opportunity to have a play! As much as I LUV layers, I wanted to keep these two pages as flat as possible (so my book can still close) but felt I still had to get texture in, so I decided to explore with colour and texture. My goal is to create a page of contemplation, thinking a little differently and maybe a little dark too.

I used a clear gesso to start, to prime the page. I wanted the sheet music to show through still. Then I used some Lindy’s sprays to get some background colour, spraying randomly as well as spraying water to mix and blend.

I did some stamping with background stamps, especially around the edges to draw the eye inward. Then did some doodling around the edge of the page with white pen. These tend to be personal notes or events about the day. It can be anything you want, but I like to make these personal to me.

After this I screwed up some string, and then painted over in black gesso and then added some gears and cogs.

Then I decided I wanted more texture  so reached for one of my staples…  Mini Art Stones!!!! Il love these beauties!!!!!!! Dabbed them on in places and then painted over with black. Once this was done I used copper crackle to bring warmth back into the picture.

After everything was dry, I then included my words I had chosen from 7 Dots. Now I have to say, these are incredible.. honestly, there is something for every mood, emotion and so reasonable and great value for money, just perfect for art journalling. Once I had these placed where I wanted them, I stuck down. I finished up with glitter glass to add additional texture and sparkle, and then light skimmed over with one of there new art waxes in vintage satin… again this is another product I adore!!

Thank you so much for joining me here,
Hugs,
Georgie
