A New Chapter

We just love seeing Gayle's beautiful Box Book project unfold!
Today, she lets us peek inside. :)

Hello Mixed Media Place friends!
I’m back this month with more of my little Box Book. So far I’ve shown the front cover HERE and the inside front cover HERE .
Well a book needs some pages, so today it’s page No.1

There are 20 pages. Five pieces of card. The spine of the book separating a page each side and the same on the back. Pages vary in size so the bottom pages can peek out underneath the top pages.

First a piece of washi tape. I knew that this first page was going to butt up to the edge of the box, which is black, so wanted this page to look ‘connected’ hence the black tape.

Some stamping using a Finnabair Vintage Vanity line clear stamp.
Next, some embossing in black with another Finnabair stamp.

Then I collaged some tissue paper birds using Art Basics Soft Matte Gel which is perfect even for really delicate, fragile paper like tissue, which I love to use.

Using a light lead pencil I sketched in my message, and then went over it with a black water proof pen.

Now for some colour. Acrylic paint watered down in a mini mister and sprayed on.

Let's colour the birds, too. I used Derwent Inktense Coloured pencils but any watercolor pencils are perfect here.

Lastly, define the edges with some Distress Inks.

So, page No.1 complete !
